Asish Maulik : Madam, i left Calcutta next day, so i could not send you email. To day suprio told me about your reply. First of all my congrats for making such a bold film, this film could be taken as a milestone in Bengali Cinema as well as a film on adolescence.what Gautam Ghosh could not shown in ‘Maner Manush’. You have shown that is very educative manner. I believe that in Baul Cult, Body Plays very vital role, they do not deny like other religions. Very simple way you describe their philosophy. 500 years back ‘Nimai’ who try to make a bridge among different believers about ‘God’, bringing them under one umbrella. It is very difficult to recognize Ril after seeing her in ‘Ganddu’. I am sure your film will be very much accepted everywhere, with my good wishes and convey the same to your team meats. Regards, Asish Maulik,

Joseph Kilian : It was good. Overall the movie had something to say. It also had a noirish pulpy feel to it and also exhibiting a spiritual side of the human body and soul. The nudity and sex are not corrupting and I felt it was true enough and required. I wish the Cosmic Sex team on making such an endeavour and hope thew challnge the censors to release such a film in theatres.

Sudipta Munsi : In the mid-40s, Prof. Ramendra Kumar Sen, M.A., D. Litt. (Cal.) (afterwards UGC Professor and Head, Department of English, University of Calcutta), presented a startling but seminal thesis that aesthetic enjoyment proceeded from the physical plane, and gradually climbed, through transformation, the metaphysical plane, and that this journey from the physical to the metaphysical contributed to its wholeness. This idea was further developed in Sen’s Calcutta University D.Litt. dissertation, “Aesthetic Enjoyment: Its Background in Philosophy and Medicine” (published in book-form by Calcutta University in 1966), where he proved that, as on one hand Bharata Muni’s indebtedness to Ayurveda in general and Caraka and Susruta in particular was colossal, on the other hand his wide borrowings from Abhidhamma philosophy, Tantrika Samarasyavada, doctrine of Nada were never to be underestimated. Again, in a 1966 seminar on “Indian Aesthetics and Art Activity” held at Simla, replying to various points of criticism, Sen defended his position by observing that “his stand was that aesthetic experience started from the biological plane and proceeded to more subtle and refined levels.... [and that] rasa has to be taken from the totality of experience.”(p. 315). In the same vein, he successfully proved that Plato’s attitude towards poetry was to be interpreted in the light of the doctrine of Eros in the Symposium (and not with reference to Republic Book X), and Aristotle’s in the light of the doctrine of horme or the vision of a dynamic universe, in the latter’s Physics. ‘Eros is man’s way to the Divine’, wrote Sen in his book, ‘Mimesis’. And in this sense, “...the rendering of Mimesis as “Imitation” in Plato and Aristotle is far from accurate. Mimesis should better be interpreted as “birth” through the union of Idea and lexis.” All this is said to justify the artistic wholeness of ‘Cosmic Sex’ (as is apparent from the Synopsis thereof, provided on the present website) which abounds in the aforesaid towering philosophy of holistic celebration of LIFE. I wish the film all success.

“In Cosmic Sex I have explored the possibility of using sex to achieve God, the connection between sex and spirituality. If one were to chart the flow of one’s sexual energy, it would start from attraction, then copulation, orgasm, ejaculation, birth, life, marriage of children, old age, death. The sexual energy flows out and manifests and manifests...

Is it possible to reverse the sexual flow in ourselves? Rewind the sexual energy and get back to it’s source? My film is the journey of young Kripa as he travels from the gross to the sublime through sex.”
